The Monroe County commissioners had to make a change in snow removal for a couple locations in Stroudsburg.
At their meeting on Nov. 19, the commissioners ended the contract with E.F. Possinger and Sons in Stroudsburg for snow removal services at the Public Safety Center, Administrative Center parking deck and lot, and the former jail parking lot at Seventh and Monroe streets, and hired Strauser Natures Helpers in Stroudsburg to do the work. This contract runs from Nov. 17 to Dec. 31.
Commissioner Sharon Laverdure asked if there would be another snow removal company beginning on Jan. 1, 2026. Commissioner Chairman John Christy said that the deck on the helix requires a poly blade, so that is why the county was releasing Possinger from their contract that goes through the end of this year.
As for next year, it was approved at a prior meeting to have Strauser’s do the snow removal come January 2026, so that is why the agenda didn’t list anything for after Dec. 31.
Also at the meeting, the commissioners honored church elder Leanon Trawick with a certificate for his 75th birthday. He is the pastor of Full Gospel Holiness Church of God in Christ in Pocono Summit.
Commissioner David Parker said he attended the birthday party for Trawick and said, “It was a great celebration, and I tell you that gentleman has some great dance moves for a 75-year-old. I was quite impressed.”
