Amorim finds senior success at Kutztown
Like any athlete, Northern Lehigh 2022 graduate Trevor Amorim is competitive.
He likes to win.
And since arriving on the campus of Kutztown University in the summer of 2022, Amorim has been a part of a KU football program that has done a lot of that.
The Golden Bears have won three consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships (2023-25) and were national semifinalists in 2023. This year, they have the chance to achieve an even higher feat.
And Amorim has been able to be a part of it and make more of an impact on games.
In his first two seasons, he appeared in just 10 games as a wide receiver. And even last season when he played in 11 games, he had just eight receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown — primarily playing behind more experienced players.
But in 2025, Amorim took it upon himself to show his worth in what could be his last football days in Maroon and Gold.
In 10 games so far, he has nearly doubled his production from the first three seasons, entering the First Round of the NCAA Tournament this weekend with 22 catches for 350 yards and four touchdowns, including a 12-yard TD catch in the PSAC championship win over IUP last Saturday.
“This past offseason and preseason I really worked on my game and my strength,” said Amorim. “I was in the gym a lot trying to get bigger and faster. I knew this is probably my last year of football, and I wanted to make an impact for my team.”
Scoring in the biggest game of the year to date was a nice step.
“It was huge,” Amorim said. “You dream of stuff like that. To be able to catch a touchdown in the championship game is something I worked for. I’m just happy to be able to help my team win.”
That work ethic and will to win started when he was a Bulldog and led him onto his current path as a Golden Bear.
“Being a student-athlete at Northern Lehigh is a lot like what it’s like here at Kutztown,” said Amorim. “It’s a smaller school in comparison to others that you are competing against, and both programs and schools make you work hard to achieve your goals because they want what’s best for you.
“When I visited Kutztown while in high school, I instantly knew this was the place for me, and it’s been proven.”
Amorim has also taken care of business in the classroom, earning multiple Dean’s List and PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognitions. He is majoring in business administration (entrepreneurship) and is expected to graduate in May. After graduation, he wants to own and run his own business, a true competitor.
“It was a standard that my mom set in me to make sure I was doing well in class to be able to play sports,” Amorim said. “She was always checking my report card and making sure my homework was done.
“If you just put in some effort, you can be successful. I love all aspects of business and really want to build up my own business to be something I’m proud of.”
Amorim and Kutztown have their sights on a national title and begin their journey this weekend.
