State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• A 31-year-old man from Tannersville was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 12:02 a.m. Oct. 5 on Route 715 in Pocono Township.
Police said he was stopped in a 2020 Chevrolet Trax for summary violations when police determined he was under the influence to a degree that rendered him incapable of safely operating the vehicle.
• Police were called to Advance Auto Parts, Route 209, Chestnuthill Township, at 9:23 p.m. Nov. 1 for a reported burglary.
They discovered several alarms were set off at the business.
• A 66-year-old Stroudsburg woman is the victim of a theft reported on Rinker Road, Jackson Township, at 2:07 p.m. Nov. 10.
Police said she had $18,845 stolen from her in money and checks sent over a three-year period for what she thought was a down payment on a house.
• A 60-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, both from Stroudsburg, are the victims of a theft by deception incident police were called to at noon Nov. 3 in Strausser Lane, Jackson Township.
Police said they reported fraudulent purchases made on their credit and debit cards.
• Robert McLaren, 40, of Stroudsburg, is facing theft by deception charges after police were called to Parkside Avenue, Tobyhanna Township, at 12:05 p.m. Oct. 29.
Police said a 55-year-old woman from Stroudsburg reported being the victim of the theft of her credit card.
• Leonard Gearhart, 59, of Stroudsburg, was committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, following his arrest on strangulation and simple assault charges.
Police said they were called at 4:09 p.m. Oct. 5 to Neola Road in Jackson Township, where a 60-year-old woman from Kunkletown reported that she was the victim of the assault.
• Thomas Keiper, 53, of Stroudsburg, was cited for harassment by communications after police were called to the 1700 block of Route 209, Chestnuthill Township, at 2:13 p.m. Oct. 27.
They said the incident involved a disturbance between two motorists.
• A 78-year-old Stroudsburg woman is the victim of a theft that occurred between My 27 and 5:20 p.m. Oct. 1 on Executive Drive, Jackson Township.
Police said she reported jewelry was stolen from her, including a platinum 1-karat diamond engagement worth $16,000, unspecified necklaces worth $1,000 and gold and silver bracelets.
• Police are investigating a ChildLine report they received that states a 13-year-old girl from Saylorsburg is the victim of a suspected sexual assault.
The report lists the location of the incident as a property on Krystal Court, Chestnuthill Township, at 9:54 a.m. Oct. 23.
A second ChildLine report police received involves a harassment situation on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. It was received at 3:42 p.m. Nov. 5. No other information on the incident was disclosed by police.
• A 16-year-old girl from Effort is he victim of a harassment by physical contact threat.
Police said they investigated the incident after receiving a Safe2Say report of the incident that took place at 10:28 p.m. Nov. 3 on Little Twig Road, Chestnuthill Township.
• A 37-year-old man from Effort and a 59-year-old woman from Carbondale, Illinois, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to a physical altercation at 10:54 p.m. Nov. 3 at the intersection of Village Road and Birch Hollow Drive, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said the man reported being kicked by the woman while she alleged that she was punched by the man.
