Panther Valley High School students were swimming for cash in a 12-hour benefit swim-a-thon that netted $3,800 yesterday.

About 165 students completed 100 laps during the benefit in the high school natatorium.

Seventy percent of the funds will help finance this year’s school yearbook; 25 percent will be donated to international athletes for the 1976 Olympics; and five percent will be given to the Panther Valley Sports Club, co-sponsor of the school’s annual athletic dinner.

The best time was turned in by Patty Swanson of Coaldale, a senior student who finished in a time of 41:09 minutes, 16 minutes ahead of Perry Iezzoni of Summit Hill, a junior student. Finishing in third place was Margaret Reinbold, a freshman student from Lansford.
