Lehighton Borough Council
Lehighton Borough Council took the following action on Monday:
• Agreed to purchase a 2026 Ford F-350 for the Light & Power Department with utility body and unfitting, not to exceed $95,160.
• Approved a resolution for the lease purchase agreement for two 2025 patrol vehicles for the police department.
• Agreed to file an appeal to the arbitration decision for MEA (breach behind the former Boulevard).
• Hired two crossing guards, pending preemployment screening and background check.
• Hired employees 059 and 068 as part-time billing clerks at $26.25 per hour on Dec. 29, and Dec. 15, respectively.
• Appointed Troy Hottenstein as a member of the fire police.
• Approved a resolution for grant funding from LSA Monroe for the Less-Lethal Taser 7 program.
• Approved a resolution for grant funding from LSA Monroe for new patrol vehicles.
• Awarded winning bids and sell Light & Power equipment as presented.
• Tabled the 2026 pavilion rental rates.
• Approved the request from Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church for use of property on Dec. 20 for a children’s live Nativity scene at the Amphitheater.
• Approved the Halloween parade for Oct. 17, 2026. The rain date is Oct. 18, 2026.
• Approved the request from Tina Henninger, Lehighton Area Merchants Association, to host the Witches Midnight Market on Oct. 24, 2026. The rain date is Oct. 25, 2026.
• Agreed to hold a budget meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
