November 12, 1965 — Larry Parry collects 140 rushing yards and scores a pair of touchdowns to help Slatington post a 20-7 victory over Jim Thorpe. Five plays after Parry rips off a 40-yard run in the opening quarter, he reaches the end zone from a yard out to open the game’s scoring. Thorpe ties the game on a 40-yard TD pass from Bob Hodor to Ed Jordan, but the Slaters take the lead for good in the third frame. Jim Jones intercepts a pass — one of four by the host team — to give Slatington good field position. After a seven-play march, Alex Nierer scores on a 3-yard run. The winners add an insurance tally in the fourth when Parry completes a 12-play drive with a 1-yard TD run.
