State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• Police said a 2011 Nissan Sentra was towed from the scene of a crash at 10:19 a.m. Sept. 21 on Sugar Hollow Road, Chestnuthill Township. No one was injured in the incident.

They said the crash occurred when a 2015 Jeep Patriot, whose driver police did not identify, proceeded across Sugar Hollow Road to get to White Church Road and pulled in front of the Sentra, which was driven by Jennifer Cedeno-Bitzer, 57, of East Stroudsburg.

Police said Cedeno-Bitzer swerved around the Jeep, causing the Sentra to travel off the left side of the road and strike a rock wall.

Police said the Jeep was not damaged.

• Injuries were averted in a two-vehicle crash at 3:48 p.m. Sept. 12 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the crash occurred when a 17-year-old boy from Kunkletown was driving a 2011 Ford Flex that attempted to make a left turn from a parking lot, failing to yield the right of way to a 2015 Nissan Rogue operated southbound by Nisha Ishmael, 59, of Brooklyn, New York.

The Flex struck the Rogue, causing disabling damage that required both vehicles to be towed from the scene, police said.

• Aimee L. Barzona, 41, of Philipsburg, New Jersey, was uninjured when the vehicle she was driving hit a deer at 7:07 p.m. Oct. 19 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said she was driving a 2021 Dodge Durango westbound when the incident occurred. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Matthew J. May, 25, of Blakeslee, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 3:40 a.m. Oct. 14 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the West End Ambulance Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.

Police said he was driving a 2007 Saturn Ion southbound when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road. The car traveled off the roadway and through a grassy front yard before striking a boulder, after which it pitched forward and landed on its roof.

May was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, according to police.

The Ion was towed from the scene.

• Desislava I. Dimitrova, 47, of Effort, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:44 p.m. Sept. 29 on the off-ramp of Route 115 in Tobyhanna Township.

Police said he was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox that drifted to the right and struck a guide rail.

The vehicle had minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene.

• Jorge R. Rivera Alameda, 42, of Albrightsville, was uninjured when the car he was driving hit a deer on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township at 10:10 p.m. Sept. 20.

Police said he was driving a 2013 Toyota Camry southbound when the incident occurred. The car was towed from the scene.

• Two people, one an 8-year-old Effort boy, had suspected minor injuries after a car-bus crash at 2:39 p.m. Oct. 2 on Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township.

In addition to the boy, hurt but not requiring an emergency medical services transport from the scene was Wendy A. Fisher, 52, of Kunkletown, the driver of the bus.

Police said the crash occurred when Lorenzo Chase Jr., 81, of East Stroudsburg, was driving a 2020 Lincoln Continental that proceeded into the intersection with Toll Road and struck the driver’s side of the bus. They said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Police said a 15-year-old boy from Effort and David Amoruso, 70, also of Effort, were also on the bus and were uninjured.

Chase, who was uninjured, was cited after the crash, according to police.

• Jessica Tanner, 37, of Albrightsville, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 8:37 a.m. Oct. 20 on Bartonsville Woods Road in Jackson Township.

Police said she was taken to an area hospital by a family member for evaluation.

They said she was driving a 2011 Kia Soul that left the roadway and struck a rock and tree. The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

Tanner was cited after the crash, according to police.
