Some in Weissport told to boil drinking water
Parts of Weissport had the water shut off Tuesday to allow the Lehighton Water Authority to connect a new water main as part of a project that has been in progress in the borough.
Residents on sections of White Street were told to boil drinking water until further notice.
A letter from the authority was posted at the Weissport Municipal Office at 440 Allen St., saying:
“Please be advised that your water will be turned off Tuesday, November 4th from 8 to 3:30 pm, weather dependent.
“Lehighton Water Authority is going to be connecting the water main on Lime Street to the newly-installed main on White Street. To complete this, water will be shut down from the intersection of Forge and Franklin Streets, to the intersection of White and Lime Street.
“It is recommended that you boil your drinking water from Tuesday afternoon until further notice. We (Lehighton Water Authority) will be taking water samples throughout the week and send them to the lab for testing. We will notify all affected customers when we receive the results.”
