An arrest warrant has been issued for a man who committed multiple motor vehicle thefts in Lehighton.
Lehighton Borough Police Department posted on their Facebook page that they have identified the individual responsible for the crimes.
Over the past few weeks, the Lehighton Borough Police Department has received tips and videos from our community residents on thefts from unsecured vehicles, which began in the beginning of October, borough police Chief Troy Abelovsky posted on the police department’s Facebook page.
“Our patrol officers followed up on the tips provided and our detective completed search warrants on the stolen credit cards used,” Abelovsky posted. “In conclusion, our department was able to successfully identify the offender in multiple crimes reported to our department.”
Abelovsky said that on Monday, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Anthony Maurice Owens, 43, who last resided in Lehighton, but is believed to have fled the area. He has direct ties to Summit Hill and Hazleton.
The arrest warrant included multiple counts of theft from motor vehicle and access device fraud.
If Owens is seen, contact the Carbon County Communications Center at 570-325-9111.
All other information on Owens may be forwarded to the Lehighton Borough Police Tip Line at 610-377-6519.
“Thank you to our residents for providing information to assist in this investigation and the diligence of our officers to bring closure to the victims of the crimes committed,” Abelovsky posted.
