State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• Freedom R. Trinetto, 33, of Gilbert, was uninjured when he swerved a Jeep he was driving to avoid striking deer that entered the roadway at 8:59 p.m. Oct. 27. It occurred on Sugar Hollow Road, Chestnuthill Township. The 2008 Grand Cherokee was towed from the scene.

• A 17-year-old boy from Saylorsburg is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 3:47 a.m. Oct. 7 on Effort-Neola Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2006 Hyundai Elantra east when it left its lane, hit a utility pole and became disabled.

They said the teen left the scene and a neighborhood canvass resulted in him being discovered at his old residence. He was later arrested.

Police said he had suspected minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.

• A 17-year-old boy from Effort was uninjured when the vehicle he was driving hit a deer on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township at 7:06 a.m. Oct. 1. He was operating a 2020 Hyundai Veloster north when the incident occurred.

The vehicle was towed.
