Stevenson F. Barnes of New Britain, Bucks County, was hired by the Jim Thorpe Area School District Board of Education last night to serve as an elementary guidance counselor in the district.

Directors George Marzen, George Hiller, Louis Mueller, Thomas Martino and Kenneth Shanfelt joined John Gunsser, board vice president and head of the board’s Policy, Personnel and Curriculum Committee, in making the appointment. Directors Wayne Althouse, president, John Mulligan and Charles McHugh were absent from the session.

The new counselor received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree from Lehigh University.
