Diakon unveils refreshed logo

Diakon has unveiled a refreshed organizational logo that reflects its ongoing commitment to serving people of all ages and backgrounds. While the look is new, the organization’s mission and values remain steadfast: offering help and hope to all.

The new design follows months of thoughtful planning, professional design feedback, and formal approval from Diakon’s boards of directors.

“First impressions matter,” said Diakon President and CEO Shari VanderGast. “We wanted our logo to reflect who we truly are, a welcoming organization that has always been here for everyone.”

The updated logo features a starburst symbolizing light, hope and unity. Each Diakon program has also received an updated logo that ties back to the central brand, reinforcing the organization’s identity as one united mission.

“What hasn’t changed,” VanderGast added, “is at the heart of who we are. Our commitment is to continue offering help and hope to children, youth, families, adults and seniors across the communities we serve.”

The organization’s updated branding will be rolled out across materials, signs and digital platforms in the coming weeks.

Tracing its roots to 1868, Diakon serves nearly 70,000 people of all faiths and ages in Pennsylvania and Maryland through adoption and foster care services; at-risk youth programs; behavioral health services; family reunification and preservation; affordable housing; and community services for older adults. Over 300 caring and skilled team members provide the nonprofit charitable organization’s services.

Additionally, Diakon administers the Pennsylvania Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network, which focuses on finding permanent adoptive homes for foster children.

Diakon is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America through Lutheran Services in America, one of the largest nonprofit service networks in the United States. Learn more at diakon.org.
