Schuylkill County races
A look at some of the Schuylkill County races:
Coaldale
In Coaldale, Daniel Weiksner is running on both the Democratic and Republican ballots for the four-year term as mayor. Kim Gavornik is also on both ballots for the four-year term as tax collector.
Republicans Tristan Blasko, Rose Hoben and Matthew Jungabaer are seeking the three four-year terms on council; and Republican Michael Radocha is unchallenged for the two-year term on council.
Other unchallenged candidates are Leslie A. Frets, Democrat, four-year judge of elections in the East District; Margaret Frets, Democrat; and Deb Danchak, Republican, seeking four-year terms as inspectors of elections in the East District; Jo-Ann Petosa, Republican, seeking the four-year post as judge of elections in the West District; and Jodi L. Olesh, Republican, running for a four-year term as inspector of elections in the West District.
Delano Township
Candidates are unopposed on the Delano Township ballot: Justin Mroczka, Democrat, six-year term on the board of supervisors; Justin Hall, Republican, seeking the four-year term on the supervisors board; Holly A. Keating, Republican, four-year term as tax collector; and Jane Baker, Republican, four-year term as inspector of elections.
No one is running for the six-year term as auditor nor the four-year term as judge of elections in the township.
East Brunswick Township
Three unchallenged candidates on East Brunswick Township’s ballot are: Thomas W. Strause, Republican, six-year term on the board of supervisors; Charlene Hoffman, Republican, four-year term as tax collector; and JoAnn Eckroth, Republican, four-year term as judge of elections.
No one is running for the six-year term as auditor nor the four-year term as inspector of elections in the township.
Kline Township
Unopposed candidates in Kline Township include Gary Perna Jr., Republican, who is running for a six-year term on the board of supervisors; Stephen J. Sheer, Republican, seeking the four-year term as tax collector; Sybil Katona, Democrat, running for the four-year term as judge of elections; and Beverly A. Ogrodnick, Democrat, running for the four-year term as inspector of elections.
No one is seeking the six-year term as township auditor that is on the ballot.
McAdoo
Candidates for four-year terms as mayor and tax collector appear on both the Democratic and Republican tickets.
Bernard Vilcheck is seeking the mayor’s position, and Andrew T. DeBalko, is running for tax collector.
Three Republican candidates are listed for three four-year terms on the borough council: Joseph A. Madochick, John A. Shigo and Barry N. Lutz.
The only other person on the borough’s ballot is Georgine Borchick, Republican, who is running for a four-year term as judge of elections in the First District.
No one is running in McAdoo for four-year positions as inspector of elections in the First District nor judge of elections and inspector of elections in the Second District.
New Ringgold
Unchallenged candidates in New Ringgold include Andrew Belsak, Republican, who is running for the four-year term as mayor; Corriann Myers, Republican, four-year term as tax collector; and Republicans Ryan Eckert and Jason Kunkle, who are seeking the two available four-year terms on council; and Democrats Donna Messner and Naomi Belsak, who are seeking four-year terms as judge of election and inspector of elections, respectively.
Rush Township
James M. Stewart and Michelle Kabilko appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots for positions in Rush Township.
Stewart is running for a six-year term on the board of supervisors and Kabilko is running for a four-year term as tax collector.
Other unopposed candidates in the township are Amy Werner, Republican, judge of elections in the East District; Ross R. Werner Jr., Republican, four-year term as inspector of elections in the East District; Catherine A. Klingaman, Republican, four-year term as judge of elections in the West District; and Valerie A. Klingaman, Republican, four-year term as inspector of elections in the West District.
No one is running for the four-year terms as judge of elections and inspector of elections in the Elixir District, nor for three auditor positions, those being for two-, four- and six-year terms.
Ryan Township
Unopposed Ryan candidates are: Lori A. Feldish-Ludinsky, Republican, running for the six-year term on the board of supervisors; Mary Peca, running on both the Democratic and Republican ballots for the four-year term as tax collector; and Michelle A. Mistishen, Republican, seeking the four-year term as inspector of elections.
No one is running for a six-year term as auditor or a four-year term as judge of elections in the township.
Schuylkill Township
Four of the five unchallenged candidates, who appear on the Schuylkill Township ballots, will be candidates on both the Democratic and Republican tickets: Charles Hosler, for the six-year term on the board of supervisors; Frank Fabrizio, for the four-year term as tax collector; Christine Verdier, seeking the six-year term as auditor; and Supervisor Charles Hosler and Richard Magnani are both running for the four-year term as auditor.
Thomas J. Rossochacy Sr., Republican, is unopposed for the two-year term as auditor.
No one is running for the four-year terms as judge of elections and inspector of elections in the township.
Walker Township
Unopposed candidates include Larry R. Bensinger Jr., Republican, for the six-year term on the board of supervisors; Diane Yvonne Malay, Republican, four-year term as tax collector; Linda J. Leiby, Republican, six-year term as judge of elections; and Donna J. Gerber, Republican, aspiring to a four-year term as inspector of elections.
No one is running for a six-year term as auditor in the township.
West Penn Township
The unchallenged candidates in West Penn include Thomas Ackerman and Helene Zeigler, who appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots. Ackerman is seeking a six-year term on the board of supervisors while Zeigler is aspiring to the four-year term as tax collector.
Other unopposed candidates in the township include Tracy L. Fenton, Democrat, running for a six-year term as auditor; Shelly M. Taylor, Republican, four-year term as judge of elections in the First District; Robert D. Miller, Republican, for a four-year term as inspector of elections in the First District; Norene G. Rosso, Republican, for a four-year term as judge of elections in the Second District; Lori M. Hoppes, Democrat, and Charlene Miller, Republican, running for four-year terms as inspectors of elections in the Second District; and Robert Gilfert, Republican, seeking the four-year term as inspector of elections in the Third District.
No one is running for the four-year term as judge of elections in the third district the township.
Tamaqua School Board
There are no contests for four four-year terms on the Tamaqua Area School District Board of Education as there are four candidates for the positions. They are Nancy Jones, Bryan Miller and Curtis H. Hartung, who will appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots, and Nicholas Boyle, who is a Republican candidate.
Voters in Tamaqua borough and Rush, Schuylkill, Walker and West Penn townships participate in the at-large balloting in the district.
Panther Valley School Board
Four candidates for four four-year terms on the Panther Valley School District Board of Education are all unopposed as they appear on both party ballots.
They are Shawn J. Hoben, Kim A. Laird, Ronald Shawn Yuricheck and Ryan Eidle.
Voters in Coaldale participate in the at-large balloting in the district.
Mahanoy Area School Board
Voters in Delano and Ryan townships participate in the at-large balloting in the Mahanoy Area School District.
Unchallenged candidates for four four-year terms on the district’s board of education are Steven J. Gnall, Jim Mitchell, John Honus and Karen Yedsena. They all appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots.
Hazleton Area School District
There is a race for four four-year terms on the Hazleton Area School District Board of Education, in which voters in Kline Township and McAdoo b orough will participate in the district’s at-large balloting.
Running are Carmella Yenkevich, Patricia Tomsho and Ed Shemansky, who will appear on both the Democratic and Republican tickets, Wister Yuhas, a Democratic candidate, and Jared M. O’Donnell, a Republican candidate.
