Nesquehoning Borough Council acted on the following items during its monthly meeting last week.
• Authorized the three fire companies to attend a Lehigh Anthracite in-service program on Nov. 2.
• Ratified two resolutions applying for grant funding through the Local Share Account grant and the Commonwealth Finance Authority grant to help cover the cost of portable radios for the three fire companies. Each application is for approximately $125,000.
The county is currently taking on a radio conversion from analog to digital signals and all emergency services will need new radios.
• Approved payment to M&J Excavation in the amount of $163,861.50 for the closeout of the 2025 road improvement projects in the borough.
• Winter parking signs will be put up the first weeks of November. Winter parking remains the same as last year.
• Approved a resolution amending the purchase of an Equivalent Dwelling Unit for sewer purposes to $4,000 and tapping fees to $1,500, effective immediately.
• Tabled the Teamsters contract with office clerks until the November meeting.
• Reminded residents that the November meeting will be held on Nov. 19, a week earlier, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
