Witches, skeletons appear at Germantown Grove

The Germantown Grove Club in East Jim Thorpe joined in the Halloween fun with a trunk-or-treat event Saturday.

“This is our first time,” said Kimberly Sargent, a member of the club.

There were at least 17 vehicles all decorated for Halloween. There was a circus theme, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head, a 101 Dalmatians theme, plus lots of witches, skeletons, pumpkins, and more.

There was a large group of children in costume, all going from vehicle to vehicle, collecting all kinds of Halloween treats; from candy to cookies, pretzels to chips, popcorn, and more.

The trunk-or-treat idea has been growing in popularity over the past few years, with many local organizations and churches holding them.

“It’s a lot safer to do it this way than going door to door,” said Colleen Henry, whose 8-year-old son Jaxon was dressed up in costume.
