Franklin grants waivers for Wentz private garage

A former lumber company building in Franklin Township will serve as a garage.

Township supervisors last week unanimously approved waivers for a private garage owned by Gary Wentz at the former Eckman Lumber Company, 1280 Main Road.

The proposed 260-foot by 80-foot pole barn is intended only to store vehicles.

Stipulations are that it will not be used for repairs, maintenance, bodywork, washing or painting of vehicles, nor will there be employees/activities that require the installation of potable water or wastewater facilities.

The following waivers were granted:

• Allowing access drives and landscaping to be defined with concrete curbing or other township-approved materials.

• Reducing the requirement for a 15-foot landscaped buffer separating parking and loading areas from public rights of way or adjoining properties.

• Waiving the requirement for a completed landscape plan before final approval, with landscaping to be installed or guaranteed according to township standards.

Following the waiver approvals, supervisors granted final approval for Wentz’s private garage land development plan.
