Lehighton Bible Church, 160 Jamestown St., Lehighton, holds Sunday service and Sunday school for the children at 10 a.m.

Weekly initiatives:

Tuesday: 7 p.m., Five Smooth Stones Men’s Bible Study.

Wednesday: 6:30 p.m., Adult Bible Study/Prayer Meeting and Club for the Kids.

Thursday: 9:30 a.m., Ladies Bible Study.

Upcoming events:

Oct. 31: The church will again hold its trunk or treat from 6-8 p.m. In addition to treats, there will also be hot dogs and hot chocolate for trick-or-treaters.

Nov. 8: Veterans Brunch will be held at 11 a.m.

Trinity Happenings

First Saturday quiet worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 4 p.m. Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Included during these worship times are remembering and giving thanks with prayer for the members of Trinity who have died in the last year and are now in the Lord’s eternal care. You are invited to bring in photos of your loved ones who have died — parents, grandparents, children, siblings — to be displayed on a remembrance table by Friday. Licensed Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Consider wearing red as it’s the color of the day. Coffeehouse fellowship follows in Luther Hall.

Sunday Church School for students ages 3 through grade 6 plus confirmation classes for those in grades 7-8 will begin at 10:45 a.m.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pickup. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Household goods and clothing donations will be accepted during store hours. There is a five bag limit. Use door 2 to bring clothing inside.

Looking ahead:

• All-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner and basket raffle will be held Nov. 15. This is a youth fundraiser. Advance ticket sales only; no walk-ins. Tickets available before and after Sunday worship and by contacting the church office during weekday hours.

Christ Evangelical

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd., Dr., West in Lehighton holds worship service beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday. Sunday School for children and youth is also held every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month at 10:30 a.m.

Ministries during the week:

Sister Chix, a support group for widows and divorced women, is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Bring a lunch, but dessert will be provided. To attend, call 570-386-4547. Enter through the lower parking lot entrance.

ESL classes are held at 6:30 p.m. every Monday. To register, call the church office. Enter through the upper parking lot.

Ladies’ Bible Study starting Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. for the Tuesday study and Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. for the Friday study. Study is called Giving God Your Future; a Women of Faith study. Lower parking lot entrance.

Men’s Bible workshop is the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Lower parking lot entrance.

Prayer Shawl Ministry is held the second Saturday of the month from 9-11 a.m.

A food pantry takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m.-noon. Lower parking lot entrance.
