Monroe awards janitorial services contract

The Monroe County commissioners awarded the contract for janitorial service for the magisterial district justice offices.

The contract went to KKJ Inc., doing business as Jan-Pro Cleaning and Disinfecting of Northeastern Pennsylvania in Larksville.

Jan-Pro’s bid was slightly higher than the other bid at $686 per week for an annual total of $35,672, but its bid included a security of 10% cashier’s check. The other company was Team Cleaning Solutions Inc., based in Philadelphia, at $675 per week for an annual total of $35,100, but it did not include bid security.

The contract with Jan-Pro gives it the option to extend the contract twice with one-year extensions each time and a 3% increase each year.

In other business, Jennifer Strauch-Petersen, the executive director of the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Monroe, presented the final hearing for theFederal Fiscal Year 2025 Community Development Block Grant application. The county is requesting $663,596 in CDBG money for the following projects:

• $325,061 — Rehabilitation of single-unit residential housing for low to moderate income people who qualify for the program.

• $125,991 — East Stroudsburg Borough for road and street improvements on parts of Walnut, West Broad and Park streets.

• $93,098 — Stroudsburg Borough for street and road improvements on McConnell Street.
