Tamaqua police charged Kristina Horn, 46, Coaldale, with driving under the influence of alcohol and damages to attended property after she struck a parked car around 5:41 p.m. Oct. 19 and left the scene.
Police were called to the area of First and East Philips Street in Coaldale for a two-vehicle accident and learned that Horn struck an open door of a parked vehicle.
According to police, Horn left the scene on foot when the victim told her that she was going to call police. A witness said he believed Horn had been drinking.
Officers said Horn returned around 6 p.m. and exhibited signs of intoxication. She refused field sobriety tests, police said, and admitted to drinking. She agreed to have blood drawn for a blood alcohol test.
When asked why she left the scene, she said she wanted to get a family member to retrieve her vehicle so it wouldn’t be impounded.
