The 116th Greater Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade was held this Saturday in Slatington after taking a year off due to road construction. This year’s route was shorter than spectators were used to, but everyone still enjoyed their time.
Tiffany Rehrig-Schaffer, co-chair of the Northern Lehigh Events Committee, said the event was a good one, thanks to help from the school district and the Slatington Borough.
Russell Hallman, parade coordinator, echoed the sentiment that he was happy to see the event return to town, even though the route was shorter this year.
“Some organizations didn’t participate this year due to the shortened route, with Walnut Street being closed. The event has been running very smoothly. It was great to see the Girl Scouts, Country Junction, and the Allentown Fair show up with some cool floats,” Hallman said.
The judges for the parade were Reagan Schaeffer and Catherine Stroh. “We were very happy to see the kids smiling and enjoying gathering candy,” Stoh said.
PennDOT officials say town streets will be open again in 2028, enabling the full parade route.
