Lehighton Lions plan fundraiser dinner for pediatric cancer

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club is having a Ham and Roast Beef Dinner for pediatric cancer from 3 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall, 197 N. Sixth St., Lehighton.

Eat in and take out will be available. For tickets, call Bob at 570-657-7129.

Because of this dinner and other fundraisers, the Lions District has given more than $17,000 for new furniture and play equipment for patients at the LVHN Reilly’s Children’s Hospital Cancer Center.

In addition, they have now donated another $10,000 to start a fund to assist children with cancer and their families, who are staying at the center and have been identified as having a financial need for fuel, housing, food and other approved expenses.

Each child from the four counties representing the Lions 14-U District, who have a financial need determined by the social worker, can receive up to $1,000.

Pediatric cancer is now one of Lions eight global causes. The Lions are excited to provide these services in ways they never thought possible.
