More than 250 members of the Schuylkill General Assembly, Knights of Columbus, paid tribute Saturday night to James A. McGrew, retired state police corporal, for his service to the assembly at a program held in the St. Michael’s Hall, Frackville.

Grew, who is now the general secretary of the Greater Pottsville Chamber of Commerce, was given the 11th annual God and Country Award of the assembly, presented by the Rev. Joseph A. Neverauskas of New Philadelphia, faithful friar of the assembly.

The framed scroll cited McGrew’s “notable contributions of time and talent in furthering the work of the Catholic church, for laudable services in numerous community, civic and patriotic endeavors, and for a lifetime of public service in his community.”
