Franklin Township supervisors
Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:
• Authorized township solicitor Tom Nanovic to file a lawsuit against Parryville Site LLC to collect the $9,638 that is owed from the services that were done by George’s Sewer and Drain Cleaning LLC for the blockage caused by Parryville Site, LLC, at the old Blocker Harley Davidson.
• Scheduled a public hearing at 6:15 p.m. Nov. 18 regarding the cable franchise agreement with Blue Ridge Cable.
• Agreed to place an advertisement for bids on the garbage contract on the board of supervisors’ December meeting agenda. The current garbage contract runs out in April.
• Approved the removal of two employees due to voluntary quit.
• Accepted the resignation of Kevin Strunk from the township’s zoning hearing board, as well as the Uniform Construction Code Board of Appeals, effective Oct. 17. The board thanked Strunk for his 17 years of service, and noted that the township is accepting candidates to serve as a replacement.
• Approved the request from Lehighton to have Franklin Township fire police assist the Lehighton fire police with traffic control for the Witches’ Midnight Market from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
• Approved the request from Weissport to have Franklin Township fire police assist with traffic control for the Halloween parade at 4 p.m. Sunday.
• Approved the request from Lehighton to have Franklin Township fire police assist the Lehighton fire police with traffic control for the Veterans Day Parade at 2 p.m. on Nov. 9. The rain date is Nov. 16.
• Approved the request from Palmerton to have Franklin Township fire police assist with traffic control for the Bo Tkach Foundation 5K Turkey Trot at 6 a.m. on Nov. 27.
• Rejected the request from LaRose’s Roller Skating Rink to have Franklin Township fire police assist with traffic control on Nov. 1, Nov. 7, Nov. 8, and Nov. 14.
• Approved trick-or-treat night in the township from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
