Lewistown Garden Club

Lewistown Valley Garden Club celebrated its annual tea in September with members as well as members from local garden clubs. An informative program from BeeZ Floral, Barnesville, was enjoyed along with games and a lunch reception.

The October meeting is always celebrated as the Family Dinner Meeting, which will be held at noon Oct. 28. Please see your membership book for details. For more information, contact Louise Flexer at 570-467-3400. Note earlier start time than regular meeting.

New members are always welcome.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Oct. 16 with 28 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “My Dearest Friends.” A pumpkin tree and Halloween items were chanced off and won by two members.

By a majority vote, the group will donate money to the Tamaqua Hunger Walk. Refreshments were served and the meeting closed.

One member made pulled pork. Bingo and cards were played.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Deb Rogers will bring the message at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown. The emphasis will be on children, and there will be special music. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m., and Sunday fellowship is at 6:30 p.m. The group prayer time is at 7 p.m. Wednesday. All are welcome to all services.

The church has started its shoebox collection to gather items to fill Christmas shoebox gifts.

Zion Lewistown

Zion Men will meet on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Memorial Hall.

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m. Children will be dismissed after Children’s Time for Sunday school. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

On Oct. 23, the Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m., and the Senior Choir rehearses at 7 p.m.

On Nov. 2, the 9 a.m. service includes the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
