Panther Valley School Board
The Panther Valley School Board took the following actions at its meeting last week:
• Accepted the resignations of Jamie Yarish, human resources/payroll specialist, effective Oct. 17, and Veronica Vergara, cafeteria worker effective Sept. 26.
• Hired Jennifer Frisch as a paraprofessional at the intermediate school, effective Oct. 21, at the highly qualified contract rate, and Maua Phelan as a junior-senior high school art teacher at a salary of $9,246, per the union contract.
• Approved attendance for Gregory Gauronsky, business manager, and Scott Fisher, maintenance supervisor, at the state Association of Business Officials Conference in Pittsburgh March 24-27 at a cost of $2,680.80.
• Approved teachers Brianna Marchese, Christine Presley, Jillian Frank and Maria Wozniak taking three-credit courses at a cost of $516 a credit.
• Approved Megal Gogal as a mentor for new teacher Ashley Prices at the current union contract rate. The stipend is $1,125.
• Approved the second reading of the following policies: academic standards, curriculum, extracurricular activities, nonschool-sponsored student groups, interscholastic athletics and diabetes management.
• Granted tenure to these teachers: Dennis DiCarlo, Oct. 7, 2022; and Mary Ribarchik, Oct. 31, 2022. Each completed three years of service with satisfactory ratings.
• Placed Nicole Wynings, elementary school teacher, in the master’s degree column of the union pay scale starting this school year.
• Heard a report from teacher Julian Costa, who attended the American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences Conference and presented a workshop on public relations skills.
