The Dual Valley Recreation Association was recognized by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, as a Forest Steward.

Frank P. Snyder, service forester, presented the award to the association’s Greenwood Lake Stewardship Forest, near Hometown, for its management of its 630-acre forest for recreation and stewardship purposes.

The Stewardship program was initiated by the National Association of State Foresters. Donald P. Oaks, district forester, said Dual Valley started it process of becoming a Forest Steward by having a forest stewardship plan prepared by Matthew J. Beaver, forestry consultant from Petersburg.
