In a special meeting held Wednesday, the Weatherly Area Board of Education named Dr. Robert H. Croop Jr. of Nescopeck as the district’s new superintendent at a pay rate of $120,000 per year.
Croop has been working at the Benton Area School District since 2024 where he served as High School Principal and Director of Curriculum and Instruction for grades 9 to 12. He also directed curriculum oversight for grades 7 to 12, managed budgets, led policy development for student safety, negotiated athletic trainer and Act 93 contracts, and coordinated teacher and staff recruitment and hiring practices. Croop previously worked for the Berwick Area School District in various capacities.
He has 25-plus years of experience spanning classroom instruction, building administration, and central office leadership. His leadership initiatives led to a 2017 National Blue Ribbon High School designation and AP Capstone program implementation.
Croop received a B. S. in elementary education from Bloomsburg University, a master’s in educational leadership from Wilkes University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Delaware Valley University.
Croop’s first day will be Dec. 15. Daniel Malloy, the current superintendent, will leave on Nov. 11.
