TV miniseries to film episode in Lehighton

An upcoming television miniseries is slated to film an episode in Lehighton.

Created by filmmaker Joe Hawk based on a novel he wrote in 2017, “The White House is Fake,” will film three scenes of Episode No. 2 on Saturday.

Hawk said the title is a “little bit elusive,” and has nothing to do with any political affiliation or any person.

Founder of Hawk Studios, a video production company in Connecticut, Hawk said it’s about Nelson Conrad, a curious teenager, looking for the biggest adventure in his life.

He said Conrad begins documenting everything in his journal when he stumbles upon a secret meeting under a highway bridge in Alexandria Virginia, and sees a DOT truck parked down on the side of the road under a secret entrance.

Conrad thought it was strange so he goes to the brush line to see what was happening and sees members of the military emerging, along with the president.

He then goes to the library, City Hall and finds a record that James Hutchinson is not with the city, but with the U.S. Government.

Hawk said it’s a political thriller that takes place in 1992.

He said that in 1957, Dwight Eisenhower discovered the biggest political secret; the National Interstate Highway Act.

“Nelson Conrad finds out what the Presidential Protection Act is and why it supersedes the Designated Survivor Act of 1947,” Hawk said.

Hawk explained what about Lehighton piqued his interest to film here.

“Some of these guys are actors in Pennsylvania and I worked with them before, and needed a scene with a remote area, big field,” he said. “I think Pennsylvania would be great because all the actors are already there, and it’s a great area.”

Hawk said they previously filmed an episode on Oct. 11 in Connecticut.

He said the miniseries will eventually be available on SparkTV, and later Tubi.

Hawk said that in early 2026, episodes three through seven will be filmed and a red carpet movie premiere will be held for episodes 1 and 2 in New York and Connecticut.
