Showcasing the students CCTI holds annual open house to highlight vocational education
Carbon Career & Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe hosted its annual Open House night Wednesday.
The event served as a platform to showcase the school’s technical and academic programs, giving families and community members a firsthand look at the hands-on learning and career training offered at CCTI.
Instructors and students were on hand to demonstrate projects, answer questions, and share their experiences in the following career and technical programs: Automotive Service Technician, Auto Collision Repair, Culinary Arts, Carpentry, Health Medical Assistant, Welding, Electrical Distribution and Automation, HVAC, Engineering Technology, Graphic Design, Cosmetology, Digital Marketing, Precision Machining Technology, Drafting and Design Technology. The academic areas — English, math, science, social studies, and health/physical education — also showcased a variety of hands-on activities and displays.
The event also included a car show, which drew crowds to admire a variety of classic, antique and custom vehicles. Many of the car owners were past students, past and present employees, and CCTI supporters.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, a live band featuring both current and former CCTI students and local high school students performed in the gazebo in the school’s courtyard. Their music created an energetic and welcoming environment that captured the spirit of the school community.
The performance was not only a form of entertainment, but also a celebration of the talent and collaboration nurtured at CCTI and in Carbon County.
Meanwhile, inside the building, an art show provided a quieter but equally powerful experience, showcasing student creativity through paintings, photography, branding and digital design.
“Overall, the CCTI Open House was a dynamic and successful event that celebrated student achievement, community involvement, and the dedicated staff’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for bright futures,” said Dave Reinbold, administrative director.
In addition to student-led exhibits and entertainment, the Open House featured state Rep. Doyle Heffley’s Community Resource Expo, which brought together local businesses, organizations, and service providers. This component of the event gave families access to valuable resources and highlighted the importance of community partnership in education.
