Schuylkill assessment hearings finishing

Property tax reassessment hearings are winding down in Schuylkill County.

Tim Barr, of Vision Government Solutions, told the commissioners Wednesday that hearings are still being held until the end of October.

“We sent out the first batch of decisions, about 3,200,” Barr said. “The deadline for appeals for that group is tomorrow at 4 p.m. if they don’t meet the deadline, they’ll have to wait until next year.”

The second batch will be sent out soon with a deadline of Nov 19.

There will be more, a small batch after that, Barr said.

Barr urged those appealing this order to Schuylkill County Court to have a lawyer and a property valuation.

Jeff Dunkel, of Palo Alto and one member of the boards, said that at their height, there were five residential boards and one commercial board. Now, there is one commercial and one residential.
