October 16, 1952 — Lansford takes advantage of three turnovers to earn a 20-6 victory over West Hazleton at Herman-Geist Stadium before an estimated crowd of 3,000. Bernie Matta recovers a loose ball in the opening quarter and the Panthers move 26 yards — 21 of them coming on a pass from Eddie Chuckran to Steve Vitek — for the game’s first score. Chuckran does the honors with a 1-yard plunge into the end zone. Lansford extends its advantage in the second frame when Tommy McCall picks up a fumble and races 28 yards for a touchdown. The winners add an insurance tally in the final stanza after Danny Leonard picks off a pass. A Chuckran run for 28 yards sets up Matta’s 7-yard TD dash.
