Food pantry seeks van

A Tamaqua food pantry is in need of a van or sport utility vehicle.

A larger vehicle, explained Pastor Sharon Stokes, will help volunteers keep G-Lady’s Community Food Pantry stocked and will come in handy for Thanksgiving meal distributions.

“When we go shopping for items for our pantry, our vehicles are sometimes not big enough to transport everything,” Stokes explained.

As a result, it takes multiple trips, people and vehicles to pick up items.

A larger vehicle will also help volunteers deliver turkey dinners to the Tamaqua community on Thanksgiving.

“We will deliver a good portion of the meals, and we just don’t have enough room,” Stokes said.

The pantry prepared 350 Thanksgiving meals in 2024.

“This year, we have upped it because we have already gotten calls,” Stokes said. “We will cap it at 400 meals this year.”
