Coaldale’s winter parking regulations will go into effect from Nov. 1 to April 1, 2026.
Under the regulations, nonmotorized vehicles cannot be parked on borough streets. That includes recreational vehicles including motor homes, all-terrain vehicles, boats, trailers and campers, explained Councilwoman Kim Gavornik.
She noted that Nov. 1 is a Saturday, so residents have the weekend to relocate vehicles.
“Any of the above listed vehicles on the road after Nov. 4 will be ticketed and/or towed,” she said.
The borough has police coverage through a shared agreement with Tamaqua, so officers can issue tickets.
Also during the meeting, borough council approved a $400 donation to the Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue. The borough typically turns over the same amount each year to the all-volunteer organization that rescues, spays and neuters animals.
“They are in desperate need now, and they made this request,” council President Claire Remington explained.
In an unrelated matter, Gavornik noted that the borough posted notices on 120 properties that hadn’t paid their sewer transmission fees. The notices advised them that their water would be shut off if payment wasn’t received by Sept. 22.
“When it came down to it, there were 26 people who had their water shut off,” Gavornik said.
The policy was put in place last year in an attempt to recover outstanding fees. Water is restored when bills are paid.
