Washington Twp. OKs waivers, seeks secretary
Washington Township supervisors approved several waiver requests and resolutions related to development plans at their recent meeting.
Supervisors approved a waiver request for 4026 West Grant St., allowing the plan to be submitted as a Preliminary/Final. The request is to combine two lots into one.
A waiver request for 9100 N. Loop Road also was approved, allowing that plan to be submitted as a Preliminary/Final.
Plans call for 203 acres to be split into three lots.
Additional waivers for that project included: Requiring plans to show access routes from the tract to the nearest improved streets; stating that each lot must abut an existing or proposed public or private street that meets zoning standards, and all streets providing access from the tract be adequate for fire and emergency vehicles.
In new business, supervisors approved releasing the budgeted $18,140 donation to NOVA, and set the budget meeting for today at 3:30 p.m.
They also voted to hire Bradley Slack as a part-time snowplow driver at $20 per hour with no benefits.
Resident Earl Zellner of Furnace Road attended the meeting to raise concerns about Trout Road, saying, “Why is Trout Road the only road in the township that is not paved? It’s all dirt — very dry and dusty with holes.”
The 300-foot road connects Furnace Road to Saegersville Road.
Board Chairman Josh Frieolin responded, “That is something we will discuss at the budget meeting on Oct. 15.”
Zellner thanked the board for considering the issue.
During a special meeting held Sept. 16, supervisors accepted the resignation of Secretary/Treasurer Brooke Lichtenwalter. The board thanked her for her work, saying they were sorry to lose her and wished her well.
Resident Linda Marlatt echoed those sentiments, saying, “She was always here and trustworthy, and I wanted to personally thank her.”
Supervisors approved advertising for a full-time secretary/treasurer and appointed manager Wade Marlatt as temporary secretary/treasurer until the position is filled.
