Walnutport holds Coffee with a Cop at Giant

The Walnutport Police Department continues to remain engaged with the community.

Borough police Chief Jason Nothstein told borough council on Thursday that the department held its Coffee With a Cop program at Giant Food Stores in Walnutport.

Nothstein said that once again the police department and Giant teamed up for the event, Giant provided officers with doughnuts, coffee and fruit.

“The outcome of that was phenomenal,” Nothstein said. “We got a lot of good feedback.”

Nothstein cited an instance during the event in which a young girl came in with her parents, and later came up and said she lost her “mommy.”

Giant then paged the child’s mother and the girl was reunited, he said.

Nothstein said the event provided a platform for residents to meet the officers and provide them with any suggestions or concerns.

He said it was also a chance for residents to strike up conversations with officers, as they enjoy talking to members of the community.

Nothstein said that McDonald’s plans to hold a Coffee With a Cop program from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 8.

“We’re trying to get it out as much as possible if anyone is interested,” he said.
