State police at Fern Ridge - crashes
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:
• Jonathan T. Wilishefski, 34, of Effort, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash at 3 a.m. Aug. 27 at the intersection of Jonas Road and Saturn Drive, Chestnuthill Township, police said.
Police said he was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram truck east on Jonas Road when it went off the road and hit a utility pole and several small trees. They said Wilishefski was observed about three-tenths of a mile from the scene on Jonas Road.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, for processing.
• Dawei Ren, 27, of Melbourne, Florida, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a two-vehicle crash at 4:50 a.m. Sept. 18 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2021 Ford Escape westbound and was traveling too fast for conditions when the vehicle struck a 2023 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Mohammed M. Edres, 40, of El Mirage, Arizona.
The Escape had disabling damages, police said.
• Tina Hollins, 60, of Kunkletown, was involved in a crash at 5:35 a.m. Sept. 25 on Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the West End Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.
They said she was driving a 2006 Toyota Highlander east when it went off the road and struck an embankment on the east shoulder of the road. It continued east and struck a tree before reentering the roadway and coming to rest across both lanes.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Police said a 15-year-old boy from Effort crashed in a 2016 Cadillac Escalade that he was driving on Sugar Hollow Road, Chestnuthill Township, at 9:57 p.m. Sept. 25.
He was uninjured in the incident.
Police said he was southbound and traveling too fast when he rounded a curve. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a traffic sign and then continued into a grassy area where it hit a boulder.
Police said the impact caused a wheel to come off. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
No driver was found on scene, police said, but the boy was later identified and said that he was the driver of the vehicle.
