Lawrence leads Bears at EPC XC Championships

Eight Pleasant Valley runners competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Cross Country Championships on Tuesday at DeSales University.

Keeley Lawrence led the Bears with a 41st-place finish in 22:22.8.

“Keeley has been in the top 10 all season. At the last meet, she placed first,” Pleasant Valley head coach Ali Rundle said. “It’s a tough course. This is one of her better times. She’s been hanging around 22:00 all season, so this is like a warmup for next week. She’s a powerhouse on the hills — that’s where her strength is. She usually starts out easy on the first mile and then picks it up on the hills.”

Rebekah McLeod placed 61st in 23:52.2, while Sara Brubaker was 71st in 25:02.1. Veronica Torres and Anna Salvucci also competed for the Bears.

The top 12 girls medalists were: Madelyn McCartney (Emmaus, 18:11.3), Hannah Brodhead (Freedom, 19:00.1), Elizabeth McClarin (Liberty, 19:07.5), Katie Drabouski (Liberty, 19:20.0), Lama Mahmoud (Easton, 19:27.1), Harshita Keerthi (Parkland, 19:30.3), Lyla Knoble (Easton, 19:54.1), Vivian Clark (Easton, 19:57.2), Helaina Acker (Nazareth, 20:10.9), Taylor Vidumsky (Freedom, 20:12.4), Emma Carlson (Parkland, 20:25.0), and Delaney Schoeneberger (Nazareth, 20:28.6).

Easton won the girls team title with 59 points.

For the Pleasant Valley boys, Xandr Maize, Ethan Blum and Anthony Blas represented the Bears.

“This is the smallest boys team we’ve had in a while,” Rundle said. “Xandr is one of our up-and-coming runners. He came in under 25:00 today (24:19.1), and we’re happy about that. That’s a good time for him, and next week we’re expecting good results.”

The top 12 boys medalists were: Colin McGuigan (Parkland, 16:27.3), Roen Woolf (Emmaus, 16:44.4), Will Haring (Allentown Central Catholic, 16:50.3), Ryan Fach (Emmaus, 16:59.2), Evan Guydish (Easton, 17:00.5), Jaiden Zabler (Parkland, 17:00.6), Jacob Casey (Nazareth, 17:11.9), Luke McEvoy (Parkland, 17:12.8), Logan McEvoy (Parkland, 17:13.3), David Hearn (Emmaus, 17:19.9), Joshua Cazares (Liberty, 17:23.2), and Isaiah Wilson (Parkland, 17:24.0).

Parkland claimed the boys team title with 36 points.
