Legion donates money for plaques

Kevin Bush, adjutant for American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert, brought a donation of $1,000 to be used toward plaques that will be placed by the two new roundabouts on Route 209.

There will be metal lettering reading “Chestnuthill Township,” as well as plaques for the Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Space Force.

In other business last week, Chestnuthill Township supervisors approved the following items:

• Merwine’s Landscaping was awarded the snow plow subcontractor bid at $175 per hour using a F350 dual diesel with a tailgate spreader and plow.

• Authorization was made to put the 2000 GMC 8500 for sale on Municibid.

• Northeast Site Contractors was paid $54,661.53 for Route 715 and Bond Lane sidewalks. This funding comes through a Local Share Account grant.

• Bracy Construction was paid for the Emergency Services Facility in the amount of $432,201.81. The county received $500,000 in grant funding for this project.

• Payment was made for Phase 2 of the Rosebay Road project to Miller Soil Solutions for $123,460.69. Another $6,000 is being withheld until two items are completed.

• An LSA grant just under $50,000 was ratified for the West End Fire Company’s hose replacement. The fire company reported 27 calls for the month of September and 368 year-to-date.

• A Halloween Spooktacular will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 18 in the park. The rain date is Oct. 25.
