Carbon County organizations seek nominations of veterans for award

Carbon County Veterans Affairs, Together with Veterans, and America250PA Carbon County plans to award the freedom medal to a select group of veterans for their service to our county and continuing dedication to God, country and community.

Nominated veterans must have an honorable discharge from the military and must reside in Carbon County. The veteran also must participate in public service that contributes to the community.

The continuing public service can be, but is not limited to, veterans’ organizations and nonprofits, and hospitals or veteran centers where dedication and devotion are shown on a volunteer basis.

To be considered for this award, the nominee must meet all the criteria.

The award will be presented at the annual Veterans Day Dinner at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Penn’s Peak.

The deadline to submit a nomination is Oct. 24. Please see the link for more info: bit.ly/3JaZ6QR. A nomination form must be used to submit a veteran for consideration. Each individual/organization may submit only one name per year for consideration. The nominee has the right to refuse the nomination if selected.

If selected, the veteran must attend the Veterans Day Dinner to receive the award.
