West Penn Lions recognize community heroes

The West Penn Township Lions Club held its annual Hero Award Donations at the West Penn Township Park, Zion Stone Church Road, New Ringgold last month.

Lion President Tina Dougherty presented the Local Community Hero Donation Checks totaling $5,700 to representatives from several organizations.

They include:

• Cub Scout Pack # 777, Tamaqua: $350

• Penn Mahoning Ambulance, $1,000

• Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center, $500

• Tamaqua Public Library, $500

• West Penn Township Community Park, $1,500

• Tamaqua Salvation Army Service Center, $500

• West Penn Community 4-H Club, $350

• West Penn #1 Fire Company, $1,000

Volunteers honored

Dougherty also acknowledged non-Lion volunteers who step up and give their time to help the club service or fundraising events.

“We call them and they are here,” she said.

Volunteers acknowledged Brian Nallon, Isabel Nallon, Lyma Dunbar, Jonathan Quinn, Wilma Wentzel, Sharon Snyder, Angelo Selitto, Greg Slivka, Dave Morgan, Minhyuk Kim and Nhat Hoang.
