Becky’s hosts annual car show to help Dream Come True
The 37th Annual Lehigh Township Benefit Festival and Car Show for the Blue Ridge Chapter of Dream Come True was held Sunday and was a great success, according to co-owner and event organizer Cindy Deppe.
“The volunteers always give 100% of their time and energy,” Deppe said. “Everyone who attended really enjoyed themselves. Today’s event was a huge success. It was so hard to pick the Becky’s Drive-In winner.”
Admission to the event was a donation to Dream Come True.
Entertainment included The Time Whys performing classic hits from the ’60s, ’70s, and beyond, and DJ Tony and his Side Kick playing oldies.
Emerald Dragon Karate gave a demonstration, and attendees enjoyed browsing a wide variety of crafters and flea market vendors.
Food options included kettle corn, pork rinds, french fries, hot dogs, pork barbecue, and halushki sold by Miller Ace Hardware. Activities featured pumpkin decorating, pumpkin bucket toss, witch hat ring toss, lucky duck, and wagon hayrides.
Face painting was provided by Miss Direction, who said, “I am donating all tips from my face painting to Dream Come True.” Magician Mark Mysterrio entertained the crowd with his magic tricks and said, “I’m invited a dozen times a year by Deppe to Becky’s Drive-In events.”
The Lehigh Township Lioness-Lions sold tickets for a 50/50 and basket raffle, while the Lehigh Township Historical Society raffled off a plant with lottery tickets.
The car show portion, sponsored by the Lehigh Township Lions Club, featured 439 cars of every year, make and model. About 50 additional cars that arrived without preregistration were turned away, but welcomed to park in the back.
The Lions Club thanked all volunteers, Cindy Beck-Deppe and her family for organizing the event, and the many sponsors who made it possible.
