State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following accident:

• Bryce R. Smith, 24, of Lehighton, and Andrea M. Macario, 43, of Weatherly, were involved in a two-vehicle crash at 1:14 p.m. Sept. 26 at the intersection of Route 443 (Blakeslee Boulevard Drive) and Seneca Road in Mahoning Township.

Police said both drivers reported possible injuries but refused emergency medical services transports from the scene.

They said the crash occurred when Smith was driving a 2016 Ford F-150 north on Scenic Drive and encroached into the lane of travel on Route 443 after stopping at a stop sign, after which the F-150 was hit by a 2012 Nissan Versa driven east by Macario.

Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:48 p.m. Oct. 3 on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township.

Police said the crash occurred when a 17-year-old boy from Palmerton was driving a 2006 Mazda that struck the rear of a 2022 Nissan Titan driven by Christa M. Tichy, 62, of Rockville, Maryland, after the latter had slowed for traffic at the intersection of Saw Mill Lane. Police said the Titan was towed from the scene.

The teen was cited for following too closely, according to police.
