Towamensing Township residents will see their garbage rates increase slightly for 2026.

During the township supervisors recent meeting, it was announced that the annual rates will be $220 for a single senior citizen, active military member or disabled veteran; $240 for a senior couple; and $315 for all other residents. There is a $5 reduction if paid by the end of January.

Solar hearing

Supervisors also announced that the Bollinger Solar LLC/Trachsville Hill conditional use hearing will be held either Nov. 17 or 20, and will be announced once the date is confirmed.

The hearing for the property at 110 Trachsville Road will be moved to the firehouse at 105 Firehouse Road.

Other matters

• The Volunteer Firefighters Relief Association received $32,820.60 from the state. The figure is based on the population of the township.

• The township said that the “tar buggy” is saving residents $20,000 to $25,000 as they do not need to contract out for these projects.
