October 7, 2016 — Tamaqua’s rushing attack holds off Lehighton for a wild 42-40 Schuylkill League victory. The Blue Raiders run the ball 69 times for 240 yards and six touchdowns, with most of those attempts coming from the duo of Nick Breiner and Nate Boyle. Breiner finishes with 36 carries for 149 yards and five scores, while Boyle totes the ball 27 times for 131 yards and a TD. Four of Breiner’s scores come in the opening half as Tamaqua, coached by Sam Bonner, takes a 28-20 lead at the break. The Indians receive 153 yards rushing — including a 72-yard TD run — from Mike Mayernik and 181 passing yards from Cody Scherer, but it’s not enough to produce a win.
