ON THIS DATE OCTOBER 3, 1978

Some Carbon County nimrods will be disappointed because of not getting a doe hunting license this year, but it is a question of supply and demand.

Monday was the first day applications could be accepted in the office of Carbon County Treasurer Dean D.W. DeLong, and he reported the county received a quota of 5,500 applications for the two-day season. Unfortunately, DeLong and his office personnel made an initial count of the applications received and learned there were 925 more applications than available licenses.

Making matters worse was the arrival of another large tray of applications that came in the mail and were delivered to DeLong’s office by Jim Thorpe Postmaster Ronald Esrang.
