Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:
• Passed a resolution approving the application to the Local Share Account Monroe Grant program for repairs to the Palmerton Area Library.
• Passed a resolution approving the application to the Local Share Account Monroe Grant program for a street sweeper.
• Adopted an ordinance amending Chapter 64, outdoor burning.
• Approved the 2026 memorandum of understanding for the nonuniform pension plan in the amount of $156,746.
• Approved the 2026 memorandum of understanding for the uniformed pension plan in the amount of $293,558.
• Awarded a bid for Municibid auction of car 51 for $4,100.
• Agreed to hire Larry Wallace and Keith Seltzer as seasonal employees for leaf collection at the rate of $15 per hour.
• Accepted the resignation of Cindy Roberts, part-time custodian for the police department, effective Sept. 30.
• Offered employment for part-time custodian for the police department to Dennis Rupert, at the rate of $13.28 per hour.
• Approved a request for a Halloween parade to be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 19, with a rain date of Oct. 20.
• Announced that trick or treat will be held in the borough from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
