The Carbon County Coroner’s office released details of a fiery fatal crash Friday night in Kidder Township/

The coroner was called to the scene of a single motor vehicle crash on Route 940 in Carbon County.

The investigation showed that a vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and burst into flames. Attempts to extricate the victim were unsuccessful by responding personnel.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at 10:40 p.m. by Chief Deputy Coroner Jason T. Smith.

The Carbon County Coroner’s Office, along with the Kidder Township Police Department are investigating this death. Due to the circumstances of the motor vehicle collision, further testing, including dental comparison, is needed in order to make a positive identification.

Once further forensic testing is completed additional information will be released
