Palmerton Fire Dept. swears in new members

They worked their way up through the ranks of the Palmerton Fire Department’s junior firefighters program.

Now, Kameron Behler and Sean Jahelka are taking that next step.

Borough council on Thursday appointed Behler and Jahelka as the newest members of the fire department.

Borough Mayor Don Herrmann conducted the oath of office and swearing in of Behler and Jahelka.

Councilman Kris Hoffner praised both individuals. He said their families have strong firefighting backgrounds.

“Both are real assets,” Hoffner said. “We’re very blessed to have our (junior) firefighter program.”

Kameron, the son of Palmerton Borough fire Chief Jason Behler, is a third generation firefighter.

Sean, the son of Charlie Kistler, a member of the Palmerton Fire Department, is a second generation firefighter.
