Drivers injured in Polk crash

A two-vehicle crash left both drivers injured, state police at the Lehighton barracks said.

Robert Andre, 91, and Diana L. Snyder, 39, both of Kunkletown, were injured in the crash at 8:41 a.m. Sept. 12 at the intersection of Scenic Drive and Dotter’s Corner Road in Polk Township, police said.

Andre had a severe cut on his left leg, police said, and was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.

Snyder had suspected minor injuries and was treated at the scene by personnel from the same corps.

Police said the crash occurred as Andre was driving a 2004 Buick LeSabre north on Scenic Drive when he attempted to make a left turn onto Dotter’s Corner Road without clearance.

The LeSabre subsequently struck a 2018 Dodge Durango driven by Snyder that was southbound on Scenic Drive, police said.

They said the LeSabre spun and came to rest on the left shoulder of the road, while the Durango spun and hit a stop sign. Police said the LeSabre had disabling front-end damage, while the Durango had damage to its driver’s side door and front end.

Andre was cited after the crash, according to police.
