Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Sept. 18 with 27 members present.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting. The invocation, “He Answers Every Prayer,” was read.
One member was added to the sick list. Food was distributed, and one member donated cake for her birthday while another donated ice cream.
The meeting closed and bingo and cards were played.
The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex.
St. Peter’s - West Penn
The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m. followed by Adult Sunday school at 10:15 a.m. and a church board meeting at 10:30 a.m.
On Oct. 2, the Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m. followed by the Senior Choir at 7 p.m.
Apple dumpling orders are due on Oct. 5.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Debra Rogers will conduct the 11 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown with a message of hope in a troubled world through Jesus Christ. There will be testimonies of praise and a time for prayer. Special music will be provided by the Gerbers. There will be no Sunday evening service.
The 7 p.m. Wednesday service is a time of care, share, prayer and scripture for all.
The annual Sunday School Rally Day will be held Oct. 12 beginning at 11 a.m. with puppets, music and Biblical content. At 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12, there will be a concert by Jared and Katie Wehry. Jared is the instrument playing son of the former Wehry Family Gospel Singers.
Rummage sale
A rummage sale will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 4 and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 6 from St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua.
Clothing including men’s and women’s XX-large sizes, household items, toys, books, small appliances, decorations and more will be for sale. No reasonable offers will be refused.
Zion Lewistown
Zion Men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hall.
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
